Spirituality
Spirituality encompasses the depth of the human person in community. It is about intellectual, emotional and relational well-being. It is the desire and yearning for something more beyond oneself. It is a search for meaning, authenticity and happiness in the midst of a consumer driven lifestyle.
For many, this search is the search for the divine. For Christians, it is not only a search for God on our part, but also that God seeks us and is present by the Spirit of Jesus who became human in our history.
As a faith based organisation, we are challenged to articulate and live a spirituality of communion that is simple, sustainable and impels us to act justly. We hope and work for a world where communities can be fully human and fully alive in harmony with each other and with nature.
Presentation Sisters and lay colleagues work in many ways in spirituality and faith development. One example is Mount St Annes Retreat and Conference Centre in Killenard (near Portarlington). In the heart of the countryside, there is a welcome for all people. There is time and space to rest and get in touch with ourselves and others, and to experience God.
What we are doing
Presentation Ireland has initiated a number of local conversations on ‘What Really Matters?’ What in these recession years will be the source of our courage to live hopefully? Questions such as these are on the horizon of many peoples thoughts and concerns. A number of small groups with Presentation connections are meeting to address these questions and to pool our wisdom to find practical answers.
This will be followed by 2 seminars in November 2009:
- in the Nano Nagle Centre, Ballygriffin, Mallow, Co. Cork
- in Mt St Anne’s Retreat Centre, Portarlington, Co Laois.
These are open to people of all faiths and none. For more information click What Really Matters?
